Anyone wishing to be entered for the Kent League must inform Alan Newman by Friday 30th September. New rules mean that only athletes who have paid their England Athletics competition fees can be entered and entries must be paid and received two weeks before the first fixture.
Anyone wishing to be entered for Kent, South of England or National Championship events must inform Alan Newman as soon as possible and at least one month prior to the date of the event.
Team Manager: Alan Newman (over 17s, Seniors and Masters only).
In the junior event over 6 races we had 7 athletes compete and all will receive a KFL certificate.
Evan Wild and Benjamin Barrett competed in 4 or more races and receive league mementos.
Luke Reeves (sadly no longer a member of the club) won the under 17 boys category.
In the senior category of the seven race series 41 athletes competed for the club.
Only 2 club athletes, Emma Holland & Mark Wild competed in all seven races.
3 athletes Sarah Sheppard, John Tilston & Tim Veysey-Smith competed in 6 races with 6 athletes Claire Day, Colin Tricker, Lori Tricker, Tim Terry, Lorna Goldup & Fiona Buckingham completing in five races.
All these athletes receive KFL certificates, very well deserved.
We had 7 Husband & Wife/ Partner couples and 4 (if you include the junior races) parent/child combinations competing over the season.
The turnout for the club peaked at 22 athletes at a very wet & muddy Canterbury the very last race of the season.
The least supported race which is only to be expected was Minnis Bay.
Our best results of the season for the combined team were at Deal and Canterbury.
Overall the ladies finished 6th and the men finished 11th making a combined team placing of 10th in the league.
Our only trophy winner this season was the ever present Emma Holland who won the female vet 40 award.
A special mention must go to Sarah Sheppard who on a fantastic weekend of running was the first lady home at Oxleas Wood.
Overall winners of the league were Dartford Harriers and the winning female team were Dartford Road Runners.
A full set of the season’s results can be found on the KFL website kfl.canterburyharriers.org
Finally a very big thank you from Jeanette & myself for your continued support of this league and we hope to see all those that competed and many more in the 2016/17 season, when we hopefully will be more competitive.
Kent Fitness League – Nurstead Court Meopham
On Sunday 20th December Nurstead Court Meopham hosted the 5th round of the Kent Fitness League. On arrival conditions looked reasonably good underfoot. That changed just before the start with strong blustery rain for most of the race!
4 of the clubs junior’s members plus 19 adults raced over an interesting course which included hills a water splash and obstacles to jump over.
Dylan Drew finished 8th in the u11 race and Evan Wild finished 7th in the u13s race. Luke Reeves had another dominant race winning the u17s race followed by club new comer Luke Mitchie in 2nd place.
In the men’s race Colin Tricker put in another fine performance finishing in 7th place and the clubs first Vet man home was also the clubs second man home, an excellent achievement for Alan Newman finishing in 89th place.
Tim Terry had another fine race coming home in 98th place followed by Daniel Grimwood making his debut in the KFL in 113th place, which was quite an achievement running in road shoes!! We look forward to seeing Daniel do even better next time out in the correct footwear.
John Tilston, David Sampson the clubs second Vet man home, and Mark Wild made up the rest of the team.
John Tolhurst, Tim Veysey Smith, Trevor Crysell and KFL first timer Paul Mace made up the rest of the clubs men.
Sarah Shepherd was once again first lady home for the club in 60th place, 3rd in the ladies race. Clare Day put in a gutsy performance after stepping on a thorn that pierced through the sole of her shoes and finishing in 88th place in quite some pain, 5th in the ladies race. Making up the ladies team was Vet Jane Dew who finished 42nd lady.
Our unsung hero this year Emma Holland kept up her fine form by finishing 13th lady. Vanessa Hollamby running her first KFL race this season, Helen Hardware, Lori Tricker and the ever improving Lorna Goldup who had a fine sprint finish made up the rest of the clubs ladies.
442 runners finished the race in very slippery conditions not helped by the rain that had fallen.
In the combined team event PWAC finished in 10th place, with the ladies team finishing 3rd. WELL DONE ONE AND ALL
After the seasons 5 KFL events PWACs combined team are currently in 10th place overall with the ladies team now up to 3rd.
All the club’s results can be seen on our website and the full results and league tables can be found on the KFL website klf.canterburtharriers.org. .
The 6th and penultimate KFL race of the 2015/ 16 season will take place on Sunday 10th January at the fast and flat Minis Bay course near Birchington.
A big thank you to all of you who have competed this season or have just supported. Have a great Christmas along with happy and healthy running in the 2016.

Maria Heslop, Tina Oldershaw and Sarah Shepheard have all been selected to represent Kent in the Southern Regional Inter-Counties cross country championships at Biggleswade on 12th December, with Claire Day first reserve, and all four athletes are in line for selection to represent Kent at the National Inter-Counties Championships in Birmingham on 12th March 2016.
Kent Fitness League – Oxleas Wood Eltham
On a very blustery Sunday 29th November Oxleas Wood, Eltham, South London played host to the 4th round of the Kent Fitness League.
Sarah Shepherd followed up her first place the previous day in the Kent County Cross Country League with another excellent performance by finishing in first place (overall in the ladies race) again. What an excellent weekend’s running for this ever improving and ever smiling young lady. Very very well done.
Claire Day was second lady home for PWAC 7th place overall in the ladies race. Emma Holland kept up her fine form by finishing 11th lady. The PWAC’s ladies where completed by the ever present and improving Lori Tricker and Lorna Goldup.
In the men’s race Colin Tricker put in another fine performance finishing strongly in 4th place. Andrew Day who out sprinted his wife Claire was next home followed by the clubs first Vet man home Alan Newman out for the first time in the KFL this season.
Mark Wild, John Tilston, Nick Brown (also out for the first time this season) along with the clubs 2nd Vet man home Tim Veysey Smith made up the men’s team. David Sampson, Steve Sutton and new comer to the KFL Trevor Crysell made up the rest of the clubs runners.
In the combined team event PWAC finished in 12th place. The ladies finished in 13th place due to not being able to field a Vet 45 runner.
After 4 KFL events the PWAC combined team are in 9th place with the ladies team slipping down to 4th.
All the club’s results can be seen on our website and the full results and league tables can be found on the KFL website klf.canterburtharriers.org.
