KFL Bettshanger Country Park, Deal – Report – 7th January 2018

KFL Race No 4 and the first race of 2018 took place at a sunny but very chilly and extremely windy Bettshanger Country Park, Deal.

5 junior members and 22 seniors club members made the long journey to East Kent. Due to unforeseen circumstances the junior results will be delayed and a separate report will follow as soon as the results are available.

First home for the club in the senior’s race and having a very good run was Steven Chivers coming home in 15th place closely followed by Clive Gidney who came home in 19th place. The clubs top 3 men were completed by the ever impressive David Sampson 31st.

Daniel Grimwood 34th, Nick Denbow 38th, Mike Walters 56th, Mark Wild 64th, and Trevor Crysell 95th made up the rest of the clubs scoring male runners. Some excellent packing along with some fantastic efforts.

Paul Mace 108th, John Tilston 127th, Simon Poole 124th, Les Percival 163rd, Simon Barker 164th, debutant John Markham 235th and Ron Carr 249th made up the rest of the clubs male runners.

They were ably supported by Melisa Ferns 288th 75th lady Annie Ross 299th 84th lady and Sue Chivers 304th 87th lady.

PWAC’s combined team finished in a fantastic 3rd place overall. The men’s team finishing 3rd male team on the day and the ladies 13th a great achievement especially with a gruelling uphill finish with a 40+ mile head wind in the runners faces.
