The penultimate race of KFL season took place at a dry and bright Nurstead Court Meopham. The undulating 2 lap course was not as wet as had been feared, except for the infamous water splash. 18 club runners made the short journey to North Kent.
Nathan Chapman was the first club runner home in a fantastic 7th followed this time by Colin Tricker who came home in 11th place. Lukas Bates was once again the clubs third runner home in 22nd place. David Sampson 47th and Nick Denbow 67th were the clubs scoring over 50yr old runners followed by Daniel Grimwood 98th was the teams scoring over 40yr old runner.
Peter Buckingham 105th, Paul Mace 163rd, Simon Poole 172nd made up the rest of men’s scoring runners. Les Percival with an excellent sprint finish 228th, Simon Barker 268th and Ron Carr who had problems with the soles of his shoes but still finished an impressive 302nd, made up the rest of the clubs male runners on the day and helped the male team finish in 5th place above some much stronger clubs
The first lady home for the club was Becky Morrish in 88th place once again but this time 5th lady home. Becky was probably the only club runner to finish with dry socks due to the fact she went round the water splash rather than through it. Fiona Buckingham 286th overall, 62nd lady Mandy Barker 299th overall 68th lady and Melissa Ferns 341st overall 85th lady home made up the clubs scoring female team. Annie Ross 352nd overall 94th lady and Sue Chivers 360th, 100th lady home made up the rest of the clubs female runners and help the ladies team finish 13th on the day.
PWAC’s combined team finished in an excellent 4th place on the day.

After the 6 KFL race PWAC’s combined team have held on to 4th place in the team event with Dartford Road Runners in pursuit. The men’s team stay 3rd and the ladies team stay in 13th place. Dartford Harriers have won the league title with one race to go and Sevenoaks AC and Petts Wood Runners are fighting it out for second place. 3rd place for PWAC is a possibility with a good turnout at Canterbury next week, there will be a children’s race. This is all thanks to some fantastic turnouts over a long season with some excellent efforts and performances. 6 PWAC runners have still the chance to complete all 7 races and 13 runners still have the chance to complete 5 or more races and are then eligible for one of the KFL awards.
The final race of the KFL season is at Blean Woods, Rough Common, Canterbury next Sunday February 4th 2018 at Nurstead Court Meopham.
