IEKAC Night of 5000m – 18 July 2019

After last year’s successful inaugural Night of 5000m Invicta East Kent AC are running their second Night of 5000m on Thursday 18th July 2019

5000m run  on the track with Photofinish Timing. All results go on Power of 10/Run Britain. Athletes of all abilities are welcome, I look forward to seeing many of your athletes.

Choose your time, enter your race

18:30 5000m over 25 minutes

19:15 5000m under 25 minutes

19:50 5000m under 20 minutes

20:25 5000m under 17 minutes

Entries on the day £6 cash only.

Registrations must be complete 30 minutes before the start of your race

Runners must be 15 or older on 18 July 2019

PWAC Press Report – 19th June 2019

U17 Charlotte Whiffen threw a PB in the Hammer on Saturday at the Southern Athletics League match at Lewes. Throwing a 4K implement Charlotte won the event with 32.33m. Charlotte went on to put a PB in the Shot 6.82m. Mum Nikki V50 won the B Hammer 20.52m and threw a PB in the Javelin 15.58m. She threw 14.92m in the Discus.  V35 Elizabeth Duffin threw a season’s best in her Javelin 22.51m and the Discus 15.33m. She came 2nd in the 100mH 24.7s, another SB, and equalled her PB in the Pole Vault 1.60m. U17 Rosie Elspass jumped 4.24m in the Long Jump, 1.35m in the High Jump and ran the 100m 14.8s.

V50 Steve Wright tried his hand at 400m Hurdles for the first time coming 2nd 87.6s. Steve ran a PB in the 5000m 19m 00.2s and threw more PB’s in the Discus 14.65m and the Javelin 15.34m. V55 Mark Woods as usual covered the throws all with a heavier weight than his age group weight. The Javelin 23.15m, Hammer 18.57m, Shot 7.79m, Discus 18.57m and ran the B100m 13.8s. New member Jamie Forman ran the 5000m 17m 49.4s. This was his first run on the track in 7 years. U17 Adam Garside in his first match of the season ran the 100m 12.9s, the 200 26.9s and jumped 5.03m in the Long Jump. U 20 Harry Young ran the 1500m in 4m 29.3s.

PWAC Club Grand Prix 2019 – June Update

After the June races the current points position are in the attached table.

The ladies competition is headed by Shirley Exall on 204 points followed by Natasha Wild on 163 points, Sue Chivers on 151 points and Annie Ross on 150 points.

The Mens competition is headed by Rob Everitt on 224 points followed by Nick Brown on 177 points, Adam Tibbals on 169 points and Steve Large on 161 points.

The remaining fixtures are:

15th July – Staplehurst 5 mile

4th August – East Peckham 10k

1st September – Weald 10k

Bonus Event – Any Monday 5k club handicap event.

Pentathon Cup Update May 2019

We are now nine month’s through this years competition which ends on 31st August..

Two members Phil Northfield and Keeley Phillips have already completed the required 5 events to qualify for the competition – well done to them.

Many more members have completed 3 or 4 events so you have 3 months left to complete the remaining events to qualify.

PWAC Press Report – 27th May 2019

Last Saturday saw the second round of the Lower Age Group Youth Development League matches at Erith, where Paddock Wood AC competed in a combined team with Folkestone RC. The weather was much improved from the last meeting at Woodford. U15 Harvey Fordham remains unbeaten in the high jump coming 1st with 1.75m, the long jump was immediately after and he managed to jump 5.14m which won the B string competition. Alex Stone had a good day winning the discus with a PB throw of 31.42m, he threw another PB in the javelin 32.92m finishing 3rd and 2nd in the B hammer which he does to make some points with 21.56m. PBs were also in order for Alex Gray in both the 200m 25.1s and the 100m 12.2s. Liam Simms not to be outdone ran a PB in the 100m non-scoring 12.4s and another in the 300m 42.3s. Liam O’Neil ran a PB in the 1500m 5m .07.4s. Liam also threw a PB in the javelin throwing a heavier weight in this age group with 17.18m. In the U15 girls Molly Brown achieved three PB’s in the 100m 13.6s, in the high jump 1.40m and in the shot 6.61m. Abigail Exall ran the 1500m for the first time 6m 17.7s. Jess Penny ran a PB in the 75mH 13.4s and was 1cm off her PB in the long jump 4.31m. Elizabeth Ositelu claimed PBs in both her 200m 31.4s and the 100m non-scoring 14.6s.  In the U13 boys Joe Stone who is number 3 in the UK for the long jump won the event with 4.71m. Joe also won the javelin with a PB throw 30.76m and came 2nd in the 200m 27.4s. Aaron Brown threw a PB in the javelin 14.91m and jumped 3.74 in the long jump. U13 girl Charlotte Parker in her first competition of the season ran a PB in the 75m race 11.0s and then ran another PB in the 150m 22.8s.

The following day the senior athletes were at Tooting Bec for the Southern Athletics League, Division 3 South East. Harry Young and Steve Wright had a clean sweep in the 1500m with Harry taking the A string 4m 25.5s, knocking 5s off this PB and Steve the B 5m 57.5s. Steve claimed 2nd place in the 2000m Steeple Chase and another 2nd in the 3000m 10m33.6s which was a PB. Trevor Crysall got 3rd in the triple jump 9.21m and 3rd in the long jump 4.47m. Trevor also did the javelin 23.01m. Mark Woods and M60 David Perman covered the remaining throws. Both throwing the senior men’s weight.  In the discus Mark threw 19.82m and David 9.89m, the hammer Mark 20.13m, David 13.41m and the shot Mark 7.62m and David 4.39m. David also competed in the B long jump and gained valuable points in this really close match. In the ladies W35 Elizabeth Duffin won the 100m hurdles 26.4s, came 2nd in the Javelin 21.89m, Elizabeth also did the pole vault 1.50m,  came 2nd in the B long jump and 2nd in the triple jump where she had to pull out after one jump because of injury. She claimed another 2nd in the B discus 14.12m. Nikki Whiffen did the A discus 15.52m, she won the B javelin 12.70m and also won the B hammer 20.97m. Daughter U17 Charlotte came 2nd in the A hammer 29.45m and did a PB with the 4kg shot 5.85m and went on to win the B 100m 14.2s. U17 Rosie Elspass clocked the same time in the A string 100m 14.2s, she came 2nd in the high jump 1.35m and 2nd in the long jump 4.40m.

PWAC Press Report – 15th May 2019

Harvey Fordham won 3 trophies at the Kent County Championships at the Julie Rose Stadium, Ashford over the weekend. His first win came in the U15 boys Long Jump which he won with a jump of 5.42m, he then won the high jump with 1.70m and his final win was in the triple jump 10.73m, also a PB. Alex Stone won a bronze medal in the U15 boys triple jump with 10.23m, a PB, Alex also got PBs in his javelin, 30.72m and discus, 28.52m, with a busy weekend Alex also made the final of the U15 boys 300m running (42.98s) in the heats (PB) and (43.31s) in the final. U17 Charlotte Whiffen won silver in her hammer with a PB and club record throw of 40.00m.  W35 Elizabeth Duffin won a silver medal in the Senior Women’s javelin, 21.32m. On the Sunday U17 Maia Hyland won silver the U17 Women’s javelin, 29.02m. U15 Elizabeth Ositelu in her first ever competition won a silver medal in the triple jump, 7.60m and ran (14.8s) in the 100m. U15 Alex Gray just missed out on a medal in the long jump finishing 4th with 5.01m. In the 100m heats he came 2nd (12.62s) and qualified for the semi-final where he ran (12.23s), qualifying for the final where he ran (12.36s). Liam Simms ran a PB in the heat of his 200m (25.96s).  U15 Jess Penny was 4th in her heat of the 75mH (13.70s). Jess Rayner in the same age group ran a PB in the 1500m (5m 40.2s). Twin sister Izzy threw a PB in her javelin 19.02m.
