Being able to field 2 Under 11 teams, 3 Under 13s and 2 Under 15s for the Sportshall competition in Swanley, we had our largest squad this season. All athletes performed well in their respective disciplines and have continued to improve throughout this season. Paddock Wood 1 finished 2nd in the Under 11s gaining our first Silver medal this season for this age group, along with a combined club (Bexley/Paddock Wood/Tonbridge/Swale) Under 13s Girls Gold medal and another combined club Gold medal for the Under 15 Girls.

William Hirst, Matthew Oakes, Maurice Roberts and Joe Stone (Paddock Wood 1) along with Jack King, Lucas Mounter, Leon Sherwin and Nico Walters (Paddock Wood 2) competed in the Under 11s.

Lucy Tallon in the Under 13 girls, put in another solid performance in the 4 lap race coming in 1st and finishing 4th overall, along with a combined club Gold medal.

Sportshall – Folkestone – 19th November 2017

Well done to all the children that took part in the Sportshall competition this Sunday in
Folkestone.

With only three Under 11s we were unable to enter a complete Paddock Wood team in this
age group. Therefore, we borrowed an Under 11 from Ashford AC.

Our younger members Nico and Leon were paired together in speed bounce and vertical
jump. With these not being their stronger events both managed to get respectable scores in
speed bounce of (41) and (39), along with a benchmark to improve on in vertical jump at the
next competition. Joe was paired with Oskar from Ashford AC in javelin and long jump. Both
boys performed well in the long jump with Joe coming joint first with 2 meters and third in
the javelin with 17.5 meters. All four boys were very competitive in both the obstacle and
over/under relays, coming 7th and 8th. This placed us 8th overall.

We were in a similar position with the Under 13s and Under 15s in not having enough
athletes to enter a Paddock Wood team.

Lucy, being the only Under 13 girl, put in a solid performance in the 4 lap race come 4th. Lucy
was part of a combined team with Tonbridge, Bexley and Swale who come 1st.

The Under 13 boys Aaron, Alex and Harvey had a great competition. With the addition of
Oscar from Folkestone the boys placed 3rd overall as a combined Paddock Wood /
Folkestone team. Harvey gained a couple of PBs in shot putt (8.36) and winning the triple
jump with his PB (7.17). Aaron in only his 2nd Sportshall competition showed a big
improvement of over 70cm in his shot with a putt of (4.70). Alex managed a PB in the triple
jump with (6.21). All boys put in a solid performance.

Adam was our only Under 15 boy and came 7th with this being his 2nd Sportshall
competition, working hard against some strong opposition.

The next competition will be on the 10 December 2017 – Kent Sportshall Championships –
The Stour Centre, Ashford. Results from this competition will be used during the selection of
the Kent Squad for under 13 upwards.
