Norman Park Bromley hosted the 2014 U/13 and Masters Championships as well as the multi events at the weekend of the 13th & 14th of September. Paddock Wood AC had some good results.
Kate Maryon did exceptionally well winning gold in both the W40 100m (14.12s) and the 200m (30.6s). Elizabeth Duffin became a W35 on the 30th August so this was her first competition in this age category. She claimed gold in the Javelin with a throw of 25.15m. Unfortunately her High Jump and 100m Hurdles clashed, so going from one event to the other she lost her concentration. Although she won the High Jump she did not get a medal because of the set standards. In the Hurdles she had to pull up because of a pulled muscle. She came 2nd in the Hammer with 25.03. Dad Michael won the M70 Javelin with a season’s best performance of 23.12m, well down on his past performances.
In the Kent County Championship U/13 age group Toby Emm had a great run in his 800m winning his heat in (2m28.43s) He won Bronze in the final with a massive PB (2m.24.3s). Toby threw a PB in his Javelin 25.48m finishing 8th and ran the 200m coming 2nd in his heat (28.38s) and 6th in the final (29.27s). Samantha Hockey also threw a PB in her Javelin competition 17.36 finishing 7th.
