Race 1 of this season’s Kent Fitness (Cross Country) League (KFL) was held in the beautiful surroundings of Knole Park Sevenoaks on Sunday 22nd October hosted by Sevenoaks A.C.
6 junior club members took part in the races held before the main event and 26 senior members that included 10 KFL novices ran in the main race for Paddock Wood A.C. An excellent turn out for the first match of the KFL season.
In the first junior race PWAC had 5 athletes, 4 boys Felix Wright, Ray Gigney, Oliver Markham and Dylan Holmes along with 1 young lady Jess Rayner. In the second junior race (one lap of the Park) Tom Barker had a very comfortable win. (SORRY NO JUNIOR RESULTS AS YET)
The adult race was held over 2 laps of the Park and first home for the club was the ever improving Charles George in 15th place followed by and making up the rest of the men’s team (8 to score 1 MV40, 2 MV50s) Paul Slater 31st, James Ridger 39th, Clive Gigney, 40th, Steven Chivers 54th, Steve Wright 56th, David Sampson 67th and Nick Dembow 106th.

Melissa Ferns Sue Chivers and Diane Tilston made up the rest of the clubs female finishers. All the clubs senior runners had excellent support from family, friends and the junior athletes that had stayed which was much appreciated by all. Unfortunately Annie Ross had to pull out of the race due to illness.
The PWAC combined team finished in a very excellent 4th place overall out of the 18 teams running. The men finished in 4th place with the ladies finishing in 9th place.
The full race results can be seen on the KFL website http://kfl.canterburyharriers.org and the clubs results on our own website.
The new disk system along with the spot prizes being given out at the finish appeared to work well, so well done Sevenoaks AC and the KFL co-ordinator D. Whittingham.
The next KFL Race is November the 12th at Swanley Park, Swanley a very popular race and where we hope for an even greater turn out by young and older club members.
