KFL Minnis Bay, Birchington – Report – 14th January 2018

The 5th race of the 7 race KFL season took place at a sunny and for the time of year extremely pleasant Minnis Bay Birchington. The infamous mud was nowhere near as bad as the runners had feared. 24 senior runners and 6 junior runners made the long journey to the Isle of Thanet.

First home for the club in the senior race was Colin Tricker coming home in an excellent 6th place he was followed closely by Nathan Chapman who came home in 7th place. The clubs top 3 men home was completed by Lukas Bates who finished 22nd.

Steve Chivers 31st Clive Gidney 38th David Sampson 42nd Daniel Grimwood 58th along with Nick Denbow 67th made up the rest of the clubs scoring men’s team. What a fantastic achievement to have our male scorers all home in under 70th place’s.

Mark Wild 76th, Martin Taylor 80th, Peter Buckingham 93rd , Simon Poole 137th, John Tilston 143rd, Paul Graves 162nd, Les Percival 167th, Ron Carr 249th made up the rest of the clubs excellent male runners.

The first lady home for the club was Becky Morrish in 88th place 6th lady home. Lyndsey Ritchie 164th overall and 18th lady were followed by Fiona Buckingham 251 overall, 43rd lady and Mandy Barker 283rd overall 54th lady home these ladies made up the clubs scoring female team. Once again an excellent achievement. Keeley Hoad 292th , 57th lady Annie Ross 321st overall 77th lady Melisa Ferns 334th 85 lady home and Sue Chivers 335th 86th lady home made up the rest of an incredible team and turn out on the day for the club.

PWAC’s combined team finished in a fantastic 2nd place overall, beating the previous weeks fine performance of 3rd place. The men’s team finished 2nd on the day and the ladies an excellent 7th.

After the season’s 5 KFL races PWAC’s combined team have consolidated there 4th place in the team event with the men’s team staying 3rd and the ladies team have moved up to 13th. 2nd place in the league at the end of the season is no longer a pipe dream.

This is all thanks to some fantastic turnouts along with some excellent efforts and performances.

The junior results will follow ASAP.

The next KFL Race (No 6) is on January 28th 2018 at Nurstead Court Meopham. Please note there will be NO junior races at this event.

As this race is the first of the 2018 club Grand Prix hopefully we can keep the enthusiasm up and maintain our brilliant season.
