KFL – Rough Common, Canterbury – Report – 5th February 2017

16 adult members and 4 junior members travelled to Canterbury and ran in the 6th race of this’s season’s KFL around the cold and damp Blean Woods, Rough Common, Canterbury.

In the U/11 boys race Liam O’Neil had a great run coming home in first place and looking very strong in a time of 11.50, Oliver Markham was 14th in 16.00 and Dylan Holmes was 17th in a time of 17.50.  Our solitary young lady Molly Brown was 4th home in the U/11 girl’s race with a time of 15.41. Liam’s win makes for an interesting U/11 boys race at Deal as he has moved into second place in the league table, 2nd to the young lad who he beat into second place at this race.

After a fine run last week at Nurstead Court Sarah Shepherd went even better this week. Sarah won the race coming home in 42nd place overall in a magnificent time (34.41). Emma Hollands was 5th lady home in 88th place overall (37:37)  Fiona Buckingham back from injury was 3rd lady home for the club, 32nd lady overall (42.59)  Vanessa Hollamby  made up the clubs scoring ladies team coming home in 35th lady (43.38). Shirley Exall 47th lady (45.53) Melissa Ferns 56th lady (48.24) and Annie Ross 66th lady (50.29) completed the clubs female runners.

David Sampson continued his fine form being first man home for the club in 45th place overall (34.55) Steve Roberts returning from injury was next home in 55th place (35.41) followed by the ever improving Peter Buckingham 72nd (36.33). New member running his first KFL race Kim Stanley came in a very creditable 102nd (38.47). Steve Sutton 105th (39.02) Nicholas Brown 109th 39.17, Paul Mace 120th (40.33) and Simon Poole 130th (40.58) made up the rest of the clubs scoring male team. Paul Graves 147th (43.00) completed the clubs male runners.

PWAC’s combined team finished 7th on the day and stay in 6th place in the league table. The clubs ladies finished an excellent 3rd team on the day and are now up to a very creditable 5th place in the ladies team event.

The 7th KFL race and last in this seasons series is Sunday 19th February at Bettshanger Country Park Deal. There will be junior races but no entries on the day.   This will be your last chance to run in the KFL this season and complete the 5 races (minimum number) required to be eligible for a league award.  If you are not running the Tunbridge Wells Half your club needs you at Deal
