KFL Swanley Park – Report – 11th November 2017

Race No 2 of this season’s Kent Fitness League (KFL) was held in a decidedly chilly Swanley Park, Swanley on Sunday 12th November.  Run over 3 laps of the park and hosted once again by Swanley and District A.C.

5 junior club members took part in the junior races held before the main event with 31 senior members running in the main race.

In the boys U11 race PWAC had 3 athletes, John and Michael Janse 10th & 11th plus Ray Gigney 16th. Jess Rayner was the clubs only U11 girl running and came storming home in 2nd place. In the U17 boys race Tom Barker was once again the clubs only entrant coming home in 4th place

The start of the main race was preceded by the customary 2 minutes silence as befits a race starting at 11am on Remembrance Day.

First home for the club was Nathan Chapman in a fantastic 6th place followed home by our star from last season Colin Tricker in 11th place. Next in was Charles George 20th followed by and making up the rest of the men’s senior scoring team James Ridger 43rd and Clive Gigney 57th.  Daniel Grimwood came home in 74th place with David Sampson 90thand Nick Dembow 117th making up the men’s team of 3 scoring vet runners.

For the ladies Emma Hollands was first home for the club in 218thplace overall, 26th lady and making up the rest of the team where Caroline Richards 335th overall, 56th lady, Fiona Buckingham 369th   overall, 70th lady and Mandy Barker 396th overall, 82nd lady.

Steve Chivers, Martin Taylor, Aaron Rowland, Mike Walters, Trevor Crysell, John Tilston, Paul Mace, Pete Buckingham, John Tolhurst, Paul Graves, Steve Sutton, Simon Paul, Simon Barker, Ron Carr and Les Percival made up the remainder of the clubs male runners.

Lorraine Shepheard, Keeley Hoad, Sue Chivers and Diane Tilston made up the rest of the clubs female finishers.

A fantastic turn out from our club runners, thank you. Daniel, Pete, Emma and Fiona all ran excellent races given that they had all completed the Bexhill Poppy Half Marathon on the previous day.

Charles, Aaron, Martin and David also had a tough weekend having raced the previous day for the club at the Kent XC league.

PWAC combined team finished in 6th place overall out of 18 teams.  The men finished in 6th place with the ladies finishing in 13th place.  After 2 races PWAC are in 5th place in the combined team event.
