Paddock Wood AC Track & Field Club Championships 2014

Paddock Wood AC held their club Championships on August Bank Holiday Monday in conjunction with the Tonbridge Open meeting. It was terrible day weather wise with a fine drizzle and torrential rain, with the occasional dry period. This unfortunately kept people away. It was the smallest turn out for the club champs in history.

In the U/11s Lucy Tallon was the only girl competing for the club. She ran the 75m in 12.39s and the 600m in 2m 38.41s to claim 2 gold medals. Oliver Smith claimed a Gold medal in the 75m wining his heat in 11.94s a PB. Alex Stone got the silver medal 13.37s. The two boys ran the 600m Alex Stone taking the Gold 2m 15.78s and Oliver Smith the Silver in 2m 23.63s. In the Long Jump, Oliver leapt 3.05m, a PB, taking the Gold while Alex jumped 2.56m for the Silver.

Toby Emm was the only U/13 taking part. He ran the 200m 28.53s, the 800m 2m 36.36s and threw the Javelin 21.40m to claim 3 Gold medals. U/15 James O’Gorman threw the Hammer 27.17m and the Shot 9.12m winning 2 Golds. U/20 Mason Doyle, jumping in very difficult conditions, cleared 1.70m for his Gold medal. Elizabeth Duffin was the only senior women competing in the Champs she did the 100mH 20.46m, the Hammer 25.73m , the Javelin 22.79m, the Shot Putt 6.12m, all well below her best due to the weather, to take 3 Gold medals. Andy Exall was the only other athlete taking part for Paddock Wood AC throwing the Javelin in the M50 category 36.01m. Mick Duffin was the only official from the club and had no opportunity to compete as he was Technical Manager and soaking wet all day!
