Paddock Wood STARTRACK 2010

The Paddock Wood event was held at Mascalls School on Monday 2nd – Friday 6th August

The 19th Startrack organised by Paddock Wood Athletic Club at Mascalls School was an outstanding success.

A record 163 children aged from 5 to 14 took part over the week.

They had the chance to try out High Jump, Long and Triple Jump, Javelin, Hammer. Discus, Shot. Hurdles, Sprints and Middle & Long Distance running.

The week was supervised by 28 coaches and athletes from the club.

Once again the weather stayed fine but if it had rained Mascalls had made arrangements for the use of their big 2012 sportshall.

The week culminated in competitions, with every participant doing a run, jump and throw to earn points for their team.

Then each team took part in the obstacle relay.

The teams this year were Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia and France.

The team gold medals were won by France.

There were also trophies for the top boy and girl in 5 age groups.

5/6 years boy Alex Scott and girl Ryana MacDonald-Gay.

7/8 years winners Cameron Johnston and Tegan Leaver.

9/10 years Jack Delaney and Kathleen Faes.

11/12 years Jake Cunningham and Jessica Cross.

The 13 & over was Tom Hollamby who jumped 1.50m in the High Jump and threw over 27m in the Javelin and Nicole McCloud winning the girls.

Congratulations to Mick & Janet Duffin and all their helpers for another successful Startrack with 160 youngsters participating in a great week.
