The first Thursday in March saw the last mile time trial for this winter with 21 PWAC athletes turning out to run. The weather conditions were probably some of the best we have seen this winter, if a little chilly. A moon lit evening with even a couple of planets Venus and Mars visible to gaze at, not that many had the time.

First home on the night was David Sampson, David finished in a time of 5.34, an excellent performance once again. In a close race for second place new member Steve Wright out sprinted (no mean feat) Daniel Grimwood, 5.45 and 5.46 respectively. Making up the top four places and next home was Nicholas Smith. Nic was timed in at 6.02. With a few more ladies out running this time trial (10) first lady home was the ever improving Vicky Holden in a fine time of 6.21. Some excellent performances and times all round, with some very impressive sprint finishes on show.

Once the results were age graded, 1 runner produced an impressive Platinum1 standard run and with 7 achieving Gold standard runs. For the gents coming out on top and showing that age is not a barrier once again was David Sampson with the Platinum standard run. For the ladies Penny Roberts (also deifying the age barrier) had an excellent Gold standard 3 run. A big thank you goes to John Tilston and Jeanette Elliott for looking after the time keeping and Keeley Hoad for taking time to take some photos and a video, after completing her 5k run and John Tolhurst for age grading the results using the latest World Masters Association 2015 tables, http://www.howardgrubb.co.uk/athletics/wmalookup15.htmappl You can use your mile time to get an approximate 10k time by multiplying your time by 7.2
