On the weekend of the 5th August Paddock Wood AC youngsters travelled to Medway Park for the last Kent Young Athletes’ League of the season. In a combined team with Folkestone AC there were some excellent results. Harvey Fordham broke a 27 year old club record for the U13 High Jump. His jump of 1.45m broke the record which had stood since 1990. Not content with this Harvey also broke the Long Jump record 4.85m which had stood since 2008. Alexander Gray joined Harvey in the Long Jump winning the B string 4.10m. Alex ran a PB in the 200m (27.6s). Alex Stone won the B discus with a PB 18.40m and was 2nd in the B Shot 7.10m. These 3 were joined by Keenan Richards from Folkestone for the 4x 100m relay which they won in (55.6s). The U13 boys won their section helping to keep the team in Division 1 for next year. In the U15 boys Adam Garside, competing for the first time ran an excellent 100m (13.6s), leapt 4.19 in the Long Jump and ran the 800m (3m 17.4s). Harry Smith ran (3m 03s) in the 800m and jumped 3.32m in the non-scoring Long Jump.
In the U13 girls Lucy Tallon ran a Grade 2 time in the 75m (10.6s) and jumped 1.20m in the High Jump. Jessica Penny joined Lucy in this and cleared 1.15m. Lucy and Jessica joined together in the Long Jump. Lucy jumped 4.08m and Jess 3.46m. Jess Rayner ran a PB in the 800m (3m.00.4s) and Katie Smith ran the B race (3m29.3s). Both girls were moved from the Division 2 team to cover absentees. In the U15 girls Maia Hyland finished 2nd in the Javelin 22.58m, in the Discus she threw 15.31m and 4.64m in the Shot. Lauren Harker ran a PB in her 800m (3m 00.1s) and jumped 3.24m in the Long Jump. Mollie Dew and Poppy Jury were also moved from the Division 2 team to cover events in team 1. Both covered the 75m Hurdles with Poppy doing a PB (19.3s) and the 2K walk for the first time but unfortunately both were disqualified. In Division 2 U13 Jacob Kemmit ran the 100m (16.4s) and the 800m (2m 16.4s). Thomas Harker also ran the 800m in a PB time (3m 29.5s). Dillon Dew threw a PB in the Discus 11.71m, also the Shot 5.64m and cleared 1.10m in the High Jump. Liam O’Neil ran a PB in the 200m (31.4s) and did the non-scoring Shot 3.96m.
