PWAC Press Report – 14th February 2023

Last weekend saw the start of the indoor athletics season for two of the senior Paddock Wood AC runners. Once again the Southern Counties Vets Championships were held at Lea Valley Athletics Centre and it proved to be a golden day for both Mark Woods and Trevor Crysell. Mark Woods gaining gold medals in the V60 category in 60m with a time of 8.22 seconds and in 200m with a time of 27.20 seconds. Trevor Crysell can home with the full set of medals in the V55 Category, gold in Triple Jump with a leap of 9m, silver in Long Jump with a jump of 4.21m and finally bronze in the 200m in 29.31seconds. It was a good test for the British Masters Indoor Championships which are this coming weekend in Sheffield.

On Sunday it was the final match in the Kent Fitness league at Allhallows. The course was new to the league and proved quite demanding with some running on the beach

The ladies team had their best result of the season at this race, and the men’s team were strong enough on the day to lift the men’s team into 4th place at season’s end. The combined team standing of 6th was a little disappointing after early season promise. Steve Wright took first place in the male 50-54 category in his first season and Adam Tibbals was second in the male 45-49 age group. Best result of the ladies team was Lisa Reid’s 6th place in the Under 35 age group 44m.41s.18 year old Andrew Saunders was first back for the club 38m.44s closely followed by Steve Wright 39m 12s.James Ridger and Matt Botten crossed the line together 40m.13s.
