PWAC Press Report – 14th March 2022

Kent’s biggest half marathon the Lambert & Foster Paddock Wood Half Marathon took place on Sunday starting in Eldon Way Paddock Wood. The men’s race was dominated by Alexander Lepretre from Highgate Harriers. His last half marathon was back in 2014 and he sliced 20 minutes off his personal best and some 28seconds off the previous course record set by Frank Ticker of Wells City Harries back in 2013. Doing sub 5 minute miling he finished in 1:04:38 just over 90 seconds ahead of the 2nd placed runner Nicholas Torry from Serpentine Runners 1:06:14 last year’s winner. Nick and the next 3 runners were all inside last year’s winners’ time. John Sanderson Guildford and Godalming 1:06:42, Nick Dawson Worthing and District 1:07:13 and Marshall Smith Ashford AC 1:07: 12.

1It was Chloe Richardson from the Royal Air Force AC who won the ladies race. Her time of 1:13:47 was close to the previous ladies record set in 2014 of 1:13:25.Laura Smith Hallamshire Harriers came next 1:16:02. Followed by Helen Gaunt Tonbridge AC 1:17:4 and Hannah Roberts Dartford AC 1:19:29.

Paddock ACs first runner home was 21year old Charles George in 43rd place 1:14:28. Michael Gibb 1:22.54.  Mike Walter 1:25.57, Dave Lawrence 1:28:24 and Ian Sutherland 1:29:00.Steve Wright having recovered form his marathon the previous weekend ran 1:36:03. Jacqui O’Reilly was first lady home for the club 1:35:06 Harriet Sinclair having run in the British Masters X/country champs the day before ran 1:38:17. Becky Morrish 1:39:15. There were almost 800 finishers in under 2 hours .There were 1261 finishers

 

On Saturday the British Masters Cross Country took place at Somerhill School, Tonbridge

There were two races on the day, across the testing, hilly, parkland courses, the first being over six kilometres and featuring all the women, plus men over 65 years old. The second race was eight kilometres long. 4 runners from Paddock Wood AC took part

In the Ladies 6K, M50 Harriet Sinclair came 8th in this category 30.25m 50th place overall

M65 John Tolhurst finished 11th in his race 31.41m .M70 Gary Nichol ran 33.46m. Running the 8K course Matt Botten came 17th 37.29.

The previous weekend Steve Wright, ran the Malta marathon starting in Mdina and finishing on the sea front in Sliema, in a time of 3:54:21.
