Kent County Championships 13/14th May
At the Kent County Championship in the Julie Rose Stadium over the weekend of 13/14th May, Elizabeth Duffin from Paddock Wood AC won a Silver Medal in the senior women’s Javelin 23.62m. U17 James O’Gorman won a Silver Medal in the Discus with a PB throw of 32.74m. He came 6th in Shot 8.88m. In the U17 ladies both Samantha Hockey and Lilly Ebsworth were competing in the championship for the first time. On Saturday they both contested the 200m. In a very strong head wind they competed against each other in heat 1. Sam came 4th (29.27s) and Lilly 5th (29.61s), both made the final as fastest losers. In the final the order was reversed Lilly was 7th (29.56s) and Sam 8th (30.14s). Sam’s slow time due to a slight muscle pull. Kimberly Garcia ran in the U15 200m, she felt the head wind pushing her out of her lane. She finished 4th in her heat (29.50s). Grace King in her first year in this age group came 6th in her heat (30.61s). U17 Finlay Hollyer jumped a PB by some 31cm in the Long Jump 5.17m, he leapt another PB in the Triple Jump 10.92cm. On Sunday the girls were back for the 100m . In the U17 race both were drawn in the same heat again, Sam Hockey finished in 5th place (14.20s), Lilly Ebsworth came 6th (14.46s). U15 Kimberley Garcia ran (14.42s) in her heat to qualify for the semifinal where she came 5th(14.26s). Grace King ran (14.81s) in her heat. U17 Harry Mills, unable to get to do the High Jump and 200m the day before, ran the 200m in a PB time (25.45s). U15 Maia Hyland just missed out on a medal in the Javelin coming 4th with 19.95m.
