PWAC Press Report – 19th February 2024

Six Paddock Wood AC athletes competed in the South East Regional Sportshall Final at Burgess Hill on Sunday. Three U13 girls were in the team. Kelsie Allcorn won a silver medal coming 2nd in the St triple Jump with a jump of 6.56m. Kelsie also competed in the Obstacle relay race team who won the race.  Kathleen Knight Misson finished 5th in the shot 8.03m she also was part of the 4×1 lap relay team which came 2nd and the 4 x2 which the county won. Alathaea Jenkins just missed out on a medal in the speed bounce finishing 4th with 81 bounces, she was also in the wining Obstacle relay race team. The team came 1st and goes to the National final in Stoke on the 6th April.  In the U13 boys team Jonah Fernandes was part of the obstacle relay team and ran a non-scoring 1 lap race. The team came equal 1st and also goes to Stoke for the National final. U 15 boy William Hirst finished in 25th place out of 40 competitors. He did 81 bounces in the speed bounce, jumped 7.14m in the St Triple jump and ran the 4 lap race 51.2s. In the U11 Fun in athletics in the morning Elsie Jenner was in the Kent team that finished 3rd.  Elsie came 5th in the chest push with 6.75m and 5th in the St Long jump 2.05m.

At the Tunbridge Wells half marathon on Sunday male vet 40 Ian Sutherland was the clubs first athlete home in 01:28:33. Mat Botten was close behind in 01:29:17. Nicholas Denbow Vet 55 1:32:46. Paul Roberts male vet 40 01:36:02, John Tolhurst was first male Vet 70 across the line 01:42:43. Kim Stanley 5th male vet 65 01:47:17 and Richard Outten male vet 45 01:56.06.
