Last Sunday Paddock Wood AC travelled to Lewes for the 2nd match in the Southern Athletic league Kent division. There were some excellent wins 16 in total. From the 3 ladies and 6 men that took part. W40 Elizabeth Bignell had a total of 6 1st places. Starting off with the hammer 25.25m a season’s best. Competing in the pole vault at the same time she equalled her PB 1.75m.She managed to get one jump in the long jump to win the B string, again while still doing the hammer. As soon as this finished she won the B shot 6.20m. A throw of 21.20m gained her another win in the B javelin and finally she won the B discus 13.85m. U17 Harriet Court won the A javelin throwing the senior weight 36.41m and she won the discus 22.96m and claimed a PB in the 200m 29.0s.W60 Teresa Hinton won the B hammer 18.36m, ran the 100m18.6s, putt the shot 6.40m and jumped 2.47m in the long jump to finish 3rd A.string.
In the men’s team Alex Hookway competing 2nd claim for Paddock Wood scored 4 wins. Jumping a PB in the pole vault 3.85m, he then went on to win the 110mH 17.5s.He also won the discus 31.86m and the shot 12.65m. M55 Steve Wright competed in the B string shot just to gain some extra points and won the B string with 5.29m and 3rd in the javelin 14.59m. He ran a PB in the 5000m 17m.26.5s finishing 2nd. He ran another PB in the 1500m 4m 49.3s and ran 2m 42.2s for the 800m. M50 Robert Bowie having his first competition on the track ran 2m 42s for his 800m, he came 2nd B string in the 1500m 6m 07.2s and ran the 400m 74.4s. Harry Young won the B 5000m 17m 6.5s. U 20 Liam Simms having his first competition for over a year ran 13.0s for his 100m and taking a tumble at the finish, luckily with not too much damaged as he was able to run a PB in the 200m 25.7s.U20 Harvey Fordham won the high jump with a season’s best jump 1.82m. He won the long jump 5.36m and the B discus 23.90m the team came 2nd on the day.
