PWAC Press Report – 19th September 2022

Paddock Wood AC athletes were at the Kent Masters, Multi-events Champion and the U13 Champs at Erith at the previous weekend. On Saturday In the first event of the day W40 Elizabeth Bignell claimed a silver medal in the hammer 23.64m and an excellent gold in the 80m hurdle in a PB time of 17.83s, an event she has not competed in since 2019. She also won the javelin. M60 Mark Woods retained his Championship title in the 100m 13.09s a CBP and on Sunday did the same in the200m 26.29s another CBP.Also on Saturday U13 Tilly Ryan bagged herself 3 medals, gold in the shot 6.95m a PB, a silver medal in  the javelin 20.70m another PB and 18.59m hammer to claim another silver. In the same age group Lucy Burrows –Cloude competed in the shot just missing out on a medal in 4th place 6.97m a PB she also did the javelin. She returned on the Sunday to do the 75m running it in 11.69s a PB. On Sunday U15 Harriet Court competed in her first ever multi-event competition the Kent U15 pentathlon Championship. She started the day well with a PB in the 75m hurdles 13.44s. Then another PB in the shot wining the event with 9.50m High jump didn’t go so well jumping 1.32m. She jumped a PB in the long jump 4.48m In her final event the 800m and event she has not done before she ran 2m 37s finishing 3rd in her heat. She finished in 2nd place to win the silver medal with a total of 2474 points. Returning after illness which had prevented her from competing for several years M50 Kate Maryon won a silver in her 100m 15.89s, despite feeling her Achilles pull half way through the race. U13 Kathleen Knight Misson ran a PB in her heat of the 75m 10.83s a PB to qualify for the final where she ran 10.86s. She is a first year U13. She was disappointed in her long jump 3.62m, 50cm down on her PB.

The weekend before this Teresa Hinton had competed in the Kent Masters jumps championship. Winning a silver medal in the high jump 1.13m and another silver in the long jump 3.13m a SB. She had to pull out of the triple jump due to a calf injury.
