Sunday saw the U17 and U20 athletes from Paddock Wood competing in the 1st Upper Youth Development league of the season, held at Norman Park Bromley. In a composite team with Ashford, Invicta and Thanet the team did exceedingly well fishing in 2nd place overall behind a very strong Blackheath & Bromley team. U17 Alex Stone came 2nd in the hammer a good result with no practice, throwing 25.00m, another good result for him was in the discus coming 3rd 30.14m. Harvey Fordham won the long jump with 5.69 and Alex Gray who was doing non-scoring, jumped 5.98m.a PB. Alex Gray also ran the B 100m coming 3rd 11.59s also a PB. .Competing for the first time for the club was U20 Jason Davis he ran in a non-scoring 100m 11.93s. In the U17 ladies Molly Brown ran the B 300m coming 2nd 46.38s not far off the club record. Molly came 2nd in the high jump 1.30m. She also ran the 4x100m relay Abigail Exall ran the 200m 30.22s. Jess Rayner was due to run in the 1500m but they got held up in an accident so did not get there in time. Jess ran in the 4x300m relay. Twin sister Izzy also ran in the relay and she competed in the javelin 21.20m.a PB.
A windy Folkestone was the venue for this week’s 10km race attempts. Charles George had a storming run, cracking the 34-minute barrier by a second 33:.59 finishing in 10th place. Becky Morrish was once again competitively active with a 38:46 run, placing her as 3rd Lady, with Tomas Vnucak just three seconds and 2 places behind her in 50th overall.38:49 Tomas’s time was a PB by 101 seconds.
Melissa Ferns who ran the 5km race at Gravesend Cyclopark in midweek. She finished 32nd with a time of 26:05 which earned her 2nd place in the Vet 50 category.
