The younger athletes were at a very warm Waltham Forest Track for the 2nd match in the Lower Youth Development League. There were some excellent results from the youngsters with lots of 1st places and Personal bests. U15 Harvey Fordham won the High Jump equalling a record which has stood for 26 years (1992) of 1.65m, 7cm higher than his previous PB. Harvey also gained a PB in the Long Jump to claim another 1st place 5.02m and ran in the 4x100m relay which came 3rd. U13 Jessica Penny won her 75m hurdles in a PB time of (12.5s) and her Long Jump in another PB 4.32m. Jess also won the B string High Jump. Molly Brown, in her first Competition this year, won the A High Jump with 1.28m. She competed in her first Javelin competition coming 3rd with 11.50m and also ran a 75m non-scoring 75m (11.2s), winning by over 30m, a AAA grade 4 time. She was also part of the wining 4x100m relay team with Jess Penny. Jess Rayner ran the U13 1200m finishing 3rd in the B race (4:39.4). U13 Joe Stone won the Long Jump 4.30m also the Javelin 25.30m and was 3rd in his 100m. His brother Alex won the B Discus 20.12m, was 2nd in the B Long Jump 4.33m and 3rd in the Javelin 25.30m. Liam Simms ran the 200m (29.4s) just 0.1s off his PB. Liam ran the 300m (46.9) and joined the 4x300m relay. In the U15 girls Rosie Elspass was on for a PB in the High Jump with the bar at 1.40m she just clipped it with her calf , as she landed her knee caught her in the face and she had to retire and spent the afternoon in Maidstone A&E with a suspected broken nose. Despite this ,her jump of 1.35m claimed her 2nd place. Maia Hyland won the B Discus 14.48m, came 2nd in the Javelin 20.28m way below her best and 3rd in the Shot 6.14m. Maia ran in the 4x100m relay. The team came 4th on the day, a great result with lots of missing athletes due to injury and other events taking place the same day.
On Sunday it was the more senior athletes turn to compete this time at Wimbledon Park in the 2nd of the Southern Athletics League matches.W35 Elizabeth Duffin claimed two 2nd places; in the Javelin 22.17m and the Shot . She also did the Hammer 3rd and the Discus 4th. U17 Lilly Ebsworth came 2nd in her 100m (14.0s) but unfortunately did not feel well and could not do any other events. U17 Leon Depreli also did the 100m (12.2s) just outside his PB, he sustained an injury and also had to leave. M55 Mark Woods, as ever, covered as many events as he could, competing in the Hammer 18.23m (throwing the senior weight in each if his events) the Discus 21.61m, the Shot 8.05m, the Javelin 26.22m, the B 100m (13.6s) and the B 200m (26.8s). He was joined in the throws by M60 David Perman, again throwing the senior weight he competed in the Javelin 10.65m a PB, the Shot, the Hammer and the Discus. Trevor Crysell covered the Triple jump 9.00m and the 200m (28.9s).U20 Charles George and Harry Young came to run the 3000m. Charles came 3rd A string in a PB time (10m 00.50s). Harry won the B race just outside his PB (10m 03.7s).
