Sunday saw the first of the Southern Athletics league matches taking place. Paddock Wood AC are in the Kent division 3. The match took place at Sutcliffe Park Eltham. U20 Harvey Fordham won his high jump 1.90m and went on to win the long jump 5.75m. Alex Stone in the same age group won the B string with 5.58m and threw the 800g javelin 38.53m a 100g heavier than his age group weight. U20 Jason Davis ran the 100m 12.28s and the 200m 24.07s. The three lads ran the 4x100m relay with M60 Mark Woods 46.91s. Mark also ran the 200m 26.57s. he also competed in the B javelin 25.56 the A discus 21.66m and the shot 7.62m throwing better than he did last year with the heavier weights. M70 David Perman also throwing the heavier weights did the B shot 4.01m and the hammer 11.99m.M55 Trevor Crysell competed in the pole vault for the first time jumping 1.60m, he also did the B Discus 17.10m In the ladies team W40 Elizabeth Bignell competed in all the throws. She came 2nd in the javelin 23.48m 3rd in the hammer 25.49, 3rd in the shot 6.41m a SB and 4th in the discus 15.56m a SB. Senior lady Jacqueline O’Reilly ran the 800m 2m36.41s and the 400m 69.72s. U17 Emma Townend in her first competition in her new age group ran the 100m 14.6s a PB, jumped 3.93m a PB in the long jump and came 2nd in the B javelin 15.53m throwing a 600g weight In the same age group Tabitha Weeks ran the B100m 14.47s Tabitha also did the long jump 3.69m a PB. For Lisa Nyabasa who recently joined the club it was her first competition. She ran the 200m 33.46s. Put the shot 4.75m and did the NS long jump 3.07m.
Darren Hendley took part in the North Downs Way 50 mile run on Saturday and, despite struggling, managed to complete the full distance (with 5,600ft of climbing included up Box Hill) in 12hrs 4mins 24sec, placing him 182nd overall.
