Sunday saw the 3rd match in the Upper Youth development league which took place at Medway Park Gillingham. Paddock Wood was part of the composite team with Ashford Invicta and Thanet –ATIP. U 17 Harvey Fordham won the high jump 1.70m, also the triple jump 11.84m a PB and came 2nd in the long jump another PB. Alex Stone claimed 3 PBs in the long jump 5.21m, the shot 10.51m and the discus 30.56m. U 20 Jason Davis also claimed PBs in his 100m 11.67s and the 200m 23.63s. Jarrod Ball ran a non-scoring 100m 12.52s. U17 Molly Brown equalled her PB in the high jump 1.40m and won the B string 300m 47.51s. Izzy Rayner won the javelin 18.35m, ran the 100m 15.51s and jumped 3.50m in the long jump. Twin sister Jess ran a PB in the 300m 50.95s and a SB in the 800m 2.m 59.97s. Catlin Laws in only her second competition ran the 800m 2m38.36s to claim 2nd place B string.
Also at the weekend Becky Morrish ran in the 102km South West Coast to Coast Challenge .Starting in Minehead in Somerset, the race went along the ups and downs of Exmoor and the meandering Exe Valley all the way to the seaside at Dawlish on the southern coast of Devon. Becky came in as second lady finisher in 12hrs 41 mins. Just 5 minutes ahead was 2nd claim member Nathan Chapman. Nathan finished at in an overall time of 12hrs 36 mins and 9th place overall.
The previous Sunday Paul McInulty ran a Half Ironman race the Stafford 70.3 in Staffordshire. After a one-lap swim at Chasewater, the athletes then took the 56-mile cycle route through Staffordshire countryside. The half-marathon distance run was a two-and-a-half loop run route around the centre of Stafford, taking in Stafford Castle and finishing in the Market Square. In extreme heat Paul completed the course in 5h 45m 52s, finishing 23rd in his age group and even beating his 20 year old PB.
