Southern Athletics League
Athletes from Paddock Wood AC travelled to Tooting Bec athletics track on Saturday for the
3 rd match in the Southern Athletics League. Paddock Wood were co-hosting the event. With
another extremely hot day the longer distance athletes found it hard work.
Best performance of the day was by U17 Kimberley Garcia wining her 100m race in (13.4s)
and then coming 1 st again in her 200m (27.1s) a PB. Elizabeth Duffin covered 5 events
including the 100m H which she has not run for 3 years and came 2 nd . She was also 2 nd in the
javelin 22.27m., the discus 14.33m and the hammer and 4 th in the shot.
In the men’s section Steven Wright competed on the track for the first time since 2002
when he competed in the steeplechase. He competed again in this event coming 2 nd
(8m16.1s). Steven ran the 800m (2m27.5s). He then tried his hand at discus 14.21m and the
javelin 10.63m after a bit of coaching, gaining extra points. Trevor Crysell ran the 200m
(29.9s) and the 400m (65.0s) a PB. In the triple jump he came 3 rd with 9.00m. Rob Everitt ran
a PB in the 800m (2m 22.5s). Rob ran a non-scoring 5000m (18m.28s). U17 Fin Hollyer, as
well as helping officiate, came 2 nd in the long jump 4.93 and 3 rd in the triple jump with
10.06m. Also in this age group Leon Deprelli ran the 100m (12.7s). U20 Charles George ran
the 5000m for the first time (17m 27.0s). M60 David Perman, again covering all the throws,
threw the senior men’s weights finished 3 rd in the B javelin, the shot put and discus and 4 th in
the A hammer 13.52m. Jointly with Folkestone RR the team came an excellent 3 rd behind
Kent AC and Cambridge Harriers.
Lower Youth Development League
U13Jessica Penny again was unbeaten in her 70n hurdles with a PB of (11.95s) an AA grade 2 time. Jess also won the B high jump and was 3 rd in the long jump 4.18m. Jess Rayner ran a PB in the 1200m (4m34.49s). Molly Brown won the A high jump 1.25m and won the non-scoring 75m (11.28s). Abigail Exall joined Molly in this race coming 2 nd (12.32s). Abigail ran an 800m for the first time (3m 06.25s).
Joe Stone won the U13 javelin 27.43m, came 2 nd in the long jump 4.18m and 3 rd in the 100m. Jacob Kemmitt took on the 1500m, his preferred event is the 800m. He came 2 nd in the B race (5m 34.96s).Joseph Hyland came 2 nd in the B 800m (2m.58.81s) a PB and ran the non-scoring 100m (15.64s).
In the U15 girls Rosie Elspass won the high jump with a PB of 1.40m, came 2 nd in the long jump 4.18m and ran the 100m (14.14s) another PB. Maia Hyland finished 2 nd in the Javelin 24.90m, was 2 nd in the B discus 15.25m and 3 rd in the shot 6.89m a club record.
In the U15 boys Harvey Fordham jumped 1.55m to claim 2 nd place, but unfortunately did not score any result in the long jump which is so unusual for him. Alex Stone was 2 nd in the B discus 17.60m, was 3 rd in the javelin 27.43m and ran a PB in the 300m (44.56s). Despite recovering from an injured ankle Liam Simms ran a good 800m (2m 51.88s) a PB and ran the 200m 929.15s) another PB.
The combined team with Folkestone came 3 rd on the day behind the host club Woodford Green and Essex ladies and another local club Orion Harriers.
