Only a few athletes from Paddock Wood AC contested the fourth round of the Southern Athletics League at Worthing on Saturday. The club made a good start with W35 Elizabeth Duffin winning the hammer with a season’s best throw of 25.10m. W50 Nikki Whiffen made it a double by winning the B string 19.81m. Both were in action in the discus Nikki finishing 2nd A string with a PB 17.37 and Elizabeth 2nd in the B. In the javelin Elizabeth was 3rd A with 21.43m and Nikki 2nd B string 13.51m and both of them competed in the shot. Elizabeth also covered the B triple Jump, B high jump and A string pole vault. U17 Kimberley Garcia won the triple jump 9.17m and jumped a PB in the long jump 4.44m. Kim ran a season’s best in her 100m 13.3s. Rosie Elspass jumped a season’s best in the high jump 1.38m finishing 2nd and came 2nd B in the long jump 4.32m. She came 2nd B in the 100m 14.3s.
M55 Mark Woods covered all the throws in the men’s depleted team. Throwing the senior weight in the shot, he putt a season’s best 7.89m. He threw another in the javelin 24.04m and 18.01m in the discus. In the hammer his distance was 17.95m. 78 year old Mick Duffin competed in the javelin throwing an 800g weight instead of his normal 500g and came 3rd B string with a throw of 18.20m. Jamie Forman ran the 1500m a distance he has not run since 2007 finishing 3rd 4m 36.8s.
