Last Saturday it was the first match of the Kent Young Athletes’ League. Although many were away Paddock Wood AC did have good support in the U13 girls with some competing for the first time in track and field competition. Kelsey Allcorn won the long jump with 3.65m. She came fourth in the 75m 11.2s and third in the shot with 3.97m. Millie McLean also had a win in high jump. Her first time in this competition she jumped 1.20m and she ran 70m hurdles in 15.7s. Jessica Patterson tried her hand at hammer and came second with 8.56m. She also competed in the 70m hurdles 20.9s and 150m in 26.6s. The girls came 3rd in their match out of 7 teams. In the under 15 girls, Abi Palmer ran 100 m in 16.3s she did the long jump 2.75m and she threw 13.02m in the javelin. In the under 15 boys, Nathan Palmer ran 100m in 15.3s, he threw a PB in the javelin 14.94m and 5.44m in the shot.
The previous weekend there were some excellent results from the Paddock Wood AC runners in the London Marathon. With two of our younger athletes 22 year old Charles George finishing 209th in 2:32:52 and Joe Holland 26 years old 509th 2:38:39. Plus one of our veterans Steve Wright running 2:50:07.
