PWAC Press Report – 3rd July 2023

Several athletes from Paddock Wood AC were competing in the Medway & Maidstone open meeting at Gillingham on Sunday. Four athletes took part in the run, jump and throw U11 competition. Isla Fossey ran the fastest U11 girl’s time for the 75m 11.85s. She ran the 600m 2m 20.44s jumped 2.98m in the long jump and putt the 600g shot 7.11m. William Denton jumped an excellent long jump 3.23m, he ran 12.49s in his 75m race and 2m 17.22s for the 600m. He putt the shot 7.62m. Maya Trice ran her 600m 2m 21.37s, jumped 2.98m in the long jump, ran the 75m in 13.37s and did the shot 6.23m. Noah Holden jumped 2.70m in the long jump, ran the 600m 2m 26.80s, the 75m 12.96s. He putt the shot 5.68m. For all four it was their first competition on the track. U13 Kathleen Knight Misson ran a PB in her 100m 14.09s, jumped another in the long jump 4.36m and putt the shot 6.74m. U17 Harriet Court out threw everyone in the javelin competition all ages and gender 45.42m.

On Saturday Ian Sutherland competed in his 2nd 50K race in just a few weeks. The Serpent Trail is a long distance trail through some of the most breath-taking countryside in the South East.  The Salomon Serpent Trail 50k Ultra race is the southern half of the trail, starting just outside Pet worth and finishing in Petersfield via a mix of paths and tracks on generally sandy trails that dry well, plus short sections of road. He ran the course in 5h 50.42m.

On Sunday Emma Hollands ran the Goodwood marathon the race was run  round 11 laps the Goodwood motor race track Emma came 38th in a  time of 5h 57m 25s 1st lady W50. Also at Goodwood but running a different distance Steve Wright ran the 20 mile race coming home in 2h 07m 47s. Keith Hollands ran the 10K 57.03m. In the run round Bewl water 15 mile race which started and finished in Wadhurst before picking up the path round Bewl. Matt Botten was first home for the club 1h 59m 44s. Colin Castle came next 2h 14,58s and Mellissa Ferns 2h 50m 28s. John Tolhurst took the gold medal in the SCVAC at the Cliff Woods 5 wining the M65 category 35m 41s.
