PWAC Press Report – 4th September 2023

Paddock Wood AC Athletes across several age groups were competing at the weekend. W40 Elizabeth Bignell was competing in the British Masters Championships at the Moorways Stadium Derby coming away with three Bronze medals. Her first in the hammer 25.34m, her second in the pole-vault 1.70m and her third medal in the javelin 22.06m. She also competed in the 80mH but a poor start let her down and she finished 4th. M55 Trevor Crysell was also competing, in the long jump jumping 4.322m finishing in 5th place and the triple jump again finishing 5th 8.06m.

Also on Saturday some U11s were competing in the run jump and throw at the Medway and Maidstone open meeting at Gillingham. U11 Nicholas Humphreys ran 12.50s in his 75m jumped 3.45m in the long jump and ran the 600m 2m.17.11s. Stanley Thomas ran a PB in his 75m 12.6s, he jumped 2.89m a PB in the long jump and ran another PB in the 600m 2m22.30s. Joshua Allen also claimed three PBs in the 75m 12.83s, the long jump 3.53m and the 600m 2m.28.07s. The youngest member to compete was 8 year old Hudson Caldwell in her first competition on the track running the 75m in 13.71s the long jump 3.06m and running the 600m 2m 33.43s. The previous Saturday U17 Harriet Court was competing in the England Athletics U15/U17 open championships in Birmingham after her first throw she was in 2nd place but her shoulder unfortunately started to hurt so this meant it ended up her best throw and put her into 4th place with 45.08m. Two of the girls ahead of her were both second year U17s.

The previous Monday Paddock Wood AC athletes were at the Mike Rowbottom Memorial Open Meeting at Tonbridge. Two U13 girls were competing in the Kent U13 pentathlon championships. Ellen Simmons ran the 75m hurdles 15.11s she jumped a PB in the high jump 1.18m, jumped 3.13m in the long jump  she putt the shot 3.43m and ran the 800m 3m 09.71s. Jessica Patterson ran a PB in her hurdles race 16.18s, jumped 1.06m in her high jump, in the shot she did 3.69m, scored 3.38m in the long jump a PB and ran the 800m 3m 26.97s. Both girls are first year U13s. In the U11 age group Nicholas Humphreys ran the 600m in a PB time 2m 11.64s he jumped 3.67m a PB  in the long jump coming 2nd  and ran 12.44s a PB in his 75m. Joshua Allen ran his 75m race in 13.04s jumped 2.99m in the long jump. Stanley Thomas ran 12.91s in the 75m jumped 2.68m in the long jump and ran 2m 26.53s in his 600m.in the U11 girls Isla Fossey ran the 75m 12.48s.Maya Trice jumped the long jump 2.70m   In the U13 boys Max Rein ran the 100m 16.02s, he jumped 3.60m in the long jump. U15 sister Megan Rein jumped 4m in the long jump and won her heat of the 100m 14.67s. She beat fellow team mate U17 Harriet Court in to 2nd place 14.71s.Harriet also ran the 300m in a PB time 44.34s.U17 Molly Rein ran the 100m 14.69s she jumped 3.92m in the long jump. U20 Alex Gray won the triple jump 12.79m. M70 David Perman threw a seasons best in the hammer 18.52m. W40 Elizabeth Bignell jumped a PB in the pole-vault 1.80m she threw 24.29m in the hammer and 19.93 in the javelin.
