PWAC Press Report – 5th July 2022

The rescheduled Lower Youth development league 2nd match took place on Sunday at Hastings. Once again U15 Harriet Court was in fine form in the javelin wining the event with a PB throw of 37.89m, she won the B high jump with 1.40m a PB and competed in the 75m hurdles for the first time coming 2nd with 13.55s. There was another win in the U15 boy’s javelin for Alfred Everitt his throw of 32.58m was over a 4 meter improvement on his previous best. Alfred claimed another PB in his 1500m breaking 5 minutes for the first time 4m 59.9s. U13 Nathan Palmer won the B javelin 13.42m, he equalled his PB in the 75m 11.6s and put the shot 5.87m a PB. In the U13 girls Kathleen Knight Misson won the long jump with a PB of 4.23m she won the B shot 5.13m and ran a PB in the 75m 11.0s. The composite team with Folkestone came 2nd on the day.
Saturday provided an event for Ian Sutherland to sink his trail shoes into, with a 50km offering, the Serpent Trail Race, from Petworth to Petersfield. He, along with able pacing assistant Becky Morrish, completed the task in 6 hours and 3 minutes. The same pair then took on the Hever Trail Marathon just 18 hours later, resulting in 9th for Becky in 4 hrs 11 mins and 13th for Ian in 4 hrs 32 mins. All looking good for the 100-mile North Downs Way run in August…

On Friday evening 3 Paddock Wood AC runners were at the Rye Summer classic 10k Wayne Balmer came 6th 38m 16s 2nd M40, Dave Lawrence finished in 16th place 40m.29s 2nd M50 just behind in 17th place came Mike Walter40m.38s. Sunday Matt Botten was at Bewl for its 15k race he was 36th in 1hr 50.36m. Also on Sunday was the Cliffe Woods 5 mile John Tolhurst was 32nd 37m 14s 1st M60 and Kim Stanley back from a long time injury 54th 40m 40s.The previous Wednesday David Perman competed in the Dartford open meeting. Finishing 1st in the M70 hammer 18.56m and 1st in the shot 4.75m
