PWAC Press Report – 5th June 2018

On Sunday, again in very warm conditions, Paddock Wood AC’s junior athletes were at Dartford for the second match in the Kent Young Athletes League series. With several absentees due to injuries the composite team with Folkestone RC did exceedingly well in all age groups apart from the U15 girls.

In the U13 boys Division 1 Joe Stone won the Long Jump 4.31m and came 3 rd in the Shot 7.00m a PB. He was unable to stay for any other events due to another commitment. Joseph Hyland competing in this league for the first time ran a Non-Scoring 800m (3m .03.33s) and jumped a PB in the Long Jump 3.37m. U13 Jessica Penny maintained her unbeaten record this season in the 70m Hurdles with a PB (12.1s). She came 3rd in the Long Jump 4.11m. Jess Rayner, who really prefers a longer distance, ran the 800m (2m50.05s). In Division 2 U13 girls, Kiera Conrad- Pickles ran a PB in the 75m (12.17s) and came 2 nd B string in the 150m (24.09s). Emma Townend ran a PB in the 70m Hurdles (16.2s) came 2nd in the B Long Jump 2.49m and ran the 800m (3m 12.18s). Abigail Exall, in her first league competition, ran (12.08s) in her75m and (23.7s) in the 150m. She was 2nd in the Long Jump 3.63m.

In the U15 boys Division 1 Alex Gray, returning after 5 months off due to a knee injury, ran a PB in the 100m (13.00s) and another in the 200m (26.6s). Alex Stone also ran a PB in the 100m (13.82s). In the Shot Put Alex claimed another PB 8.17m and came 2nd in the B Discus 19.86m. Harvey Fordham jumped into 2 nd place in the High Jump 1.63m and 4.75m in the Long Jump. In Division 2 Aiden O’Neil ran a PB in the 100m (14.33s) ran (30.17s) for the 200m. In the Long Jump he scored 3.28m.

In the U15 girls Phoebe Rennie ran a PB in the 100m (13.88s) and jumped a PB in the High Jump 1.30m. Maia Hyland threw 22.78m in the Javelin and 15.75m in the Discus, way below her best. Poppy Jury joined Phoebe in the 4x100m Relay.
