PWAC Track & Field Club Champs and U13 Kent Pentathlon

Three of our U13 athletes competed in their first multi events competition at the Kent County Pentathlon on Bank Holiday Monday, at the Tonbridge AC track. Alex Stone claimed three personal bests. He ran (3m.04.3s) in the 800m, in the 75m Hurdles (16.13s) and his other PB was in the High Jump 1.20m. He finished on 893 points in 11th place.

Lucy Tallon and Jess Penny competed in the girl’s pentathlon. Jess achieved a PB in the Hurdles (13.98s) and the 800m (3m.02.8s). She finished on 1437 points in 9th place. Lucy Tallon ran a PB in her 800m (3m.05.3s) and putt a PB in the Shot 5.04m. Lucy came 8th. Well done to all.

The club also held its club championships on the same day in conjunction with the Tonbridge AC open meeting. Unfortunately clashing with holiday time there were not as many Paddock Wood AC athletes as we would have liked, especially as it gave the U11s a chance to compete. Charlotte Whiffen broke a 7 year old club record in the U15 Hammer throw with 30.49m.  Harvey Fordham broke his own recent CR in the High Jump with a Jump of 1.50 which puts him in the top 17 in the UK for this event. U13 Jess Rayner ran a PB in her 1500m (6m.28.0s). U15 Maia Hyland and David Perman V65 both threw PBs in the Discus. Maia 19.51m and Dave 14.59m. Having thrown a heavier weight in the SAL helped him to throw his age related weight. James O’Gorman threw 31.69m in the same event. Jasmine Etheridge threw a PB in her Javelin 22.86m and ran a PB in the 100m (13.63s). Spencer Elphick threw the Javelin 32.23m to gain a PB and ran the 800m (2m.35.9s) just outside his PB. Harry Avraamides threw 26.04m in his U17 Javelin event. Another, just hundreds of a second outside her PBs in the both the 100m and 200m Samantha Hockey ran (13.42s) and (28.33s) respectively. In the 600m race three U11s contested the race with Joe Stone taking 1st place, Joseph Hyland 2nd and Nico Walters 3rd. In the 75m race Joe Stone took his brother Alex’s 75m club record (11.08s). Father and Son V45 Trevor and U13 Liam Simms both competed in the 100m and 200m Liam ran (15.06s) and (31.99s) and Trevor (13.52m) and (27.37s).V60 Les Percival ran the 400m (66.33s). Elizabeth Duffin was the club’s only senior lady competing throwing the Javelin, Shot and Hammer. Medals will be awarded at the club presentation dinner in November.
