Southern Women’s T&F League at Erith – Saturday 17th May 2014

In the first of the season’s Southern Women’s League matches held at Erith. Paddock Wood were hosting the meeting. In the first event of the day, the Senior Women’s Hammer, the club gained some good points with Elizabeth Duffin coming 2nd A string with 25.21m and Caroline Shepheard wining the B string with 20.76m. Elizabeth went on to win the B Javelin 26.31m, finish 2nd in the Shot and the 100mH. Francesca Williams won the A javelin 28.52m. Shirley Exall ran a PB in the 3000m (12m.09.9s) finishing 3rd. Shirley also ran the 400m and the 800m before dashing off to a holiday in Malta. Lorraine Shepheard claimed 2 PBs – one in the Shot Putt 4.15m and the other in the Discus 13.89m. Kate Maryon ran a season’s best in the 100m (15.0s) and the 200m (31.5s). Caroline Shepheard also ran a season’s best in the 100m (15.9s) and the 200m (34.7s). Maryon, Duffin, Williams and Caroline Shepheard came 4th in the 4x100m relay. In the U/15 section U/13 Samantha Hockey threw a PB in the Javelin 16.87m with Erin Frankel, in her first Javelin competition, winning the B string with 11.33m. Samantha ran a PB in her 100m (15.3s) but unfortunately had to drop out of her 800m due to an injury. Erin ran a PB in her 200m (36.3s). U/15 Emily Etheridge ran a massive PB in her 100m (14.6s). Hannah Stanley competed in the 75mH for the first time and came 3rd (16.8s).
The team came 4th with more athletes out next time it is possible to perhaps move up a place.
