It was the last Sportshall Athletics meeting of the season at White Oak Leisure Centre, Swanley on Sunday. As it was Mothering Sunday the team from Paddock Wood A.C was slightly depleted, only managing to field one complete U/11 team, but there were some good performances with 4 athletes competing in their very first Sportshall competition. Toby West, one of the first timers, came an excellent 9th in the Vertical Jump with 40cm. This was out of 36 competitors. Yasmin Mayhew and Amelia Emmerson both jumped 33cm in the same competition. Amelia also had a good score in the Speed Bounce with 49 bounces to finish 15th. Erin Frankel was just one bounce behind with 48. All the girls were competing for the first time. Samantha Hockey was the club’s best Speed Bouncer with 52 bounces, taking her into 9th position. Samantha also did well in the Standing Triple Jump 4.82m. Joseph Shepheard was the club’s best Soft Javelin thrower with 10m and Aiden Johnson just behind with 9.25m. The first team finished 9th out of 20 teams.

In the older age Group U/17 Mason Doyle broke his own county record in the Standing Triple Jump with 8.54m, threw 8.24m in the Shot Putt, leapt 71cm in the Vertical Jump and 73 in the Speedbounce. U/15 Robert Latchford gained PBs in all of his events. He jumped 59cm in the Vertical Jump, 6.50m in the Standing Triple Jump, 67 in the Speed Bounce and threw 6.05m in the Shot Putt. U/13 James O’Gorman, who represented Kent in the South East Regional Final and won a Silver medal in the Speed Bounce, threw a PB in the Shot and jumped another PB in the Standing Triple Jump with 5.75m.
