Virgin Money London Marathon – Mile 22 Water Station 2018

This is just a short message for everyone who came along and helped / supported PWAC at this year’s VMLM Mile 22 Water Station.

THANK YOU SO MUCH

We hope you enjoyed the experience on the day as much as we did; it is certainly a different view being the Station Leaders.

Yes is was a long hot day and at times extremely hard work but it was great to see your dedication and enthusiasm to the job in hand. I don’t want to highlight any one person in particular but our thanks go to the guys that got up extra early to come up on the early bus and set the station up plus the few junior members and non-club members who came along and worked extremely hard but also appeared to really enjoy themselves.

A big Thank You must also go to those of you that helped the number of distressed runners we had to deal with; your assistance was very much appreciated by the St Johns Ambulance and hopefully the runners as well. It was so sad to hear the news about Matt Campbell.

It was a challenging day from the off with one of the main coaches not being able to get to the Water Station and a 10min walk to site for those on board. Rest assured Hams Travel have had a call from us (who also had the same problems elsewhere on the day) and hopefully this won’t happen again next year. I’m not sure if we have ever run out of water but that was certainly the case this year for a short period of time but thankfully VMLM were very quick to re stock us. For your info we handed out approx 45,000 bottles of water (12 + pallets) with just over 40,250 runners finishing the race.

Please take the time to take a look at the link below to see how much we / you the volunteers were all appreciated by the runners

Once again thanks to you all, and because you were all so great this year we will be your station leaders again next year if you will have us. Please put the 28th April 2019 in your diaries. We look forward to seeing you all again.

Kind Regards

Richard & Jeanette Elliott
